1st marking period, 1st steps to success

I honestly think I have progressed so much in Art...so far. This time two months ago, I absolutely had NO belief that I could draw fruit, let alone my face. After learning how to shade and use real pictures as a template, I had an easier time drawing and painting. I feel like my drawings are getting much better than they were before, and hopefully they will only get better! I learned that there is no such thing as failure, and mistakes are actually different opprotunities to try something that you would have never thought of trying before...and sometimes, the things we call "mistakes" are really what help make the picture, or drawing, or painting, in the end.

Right now, we're working on our self-portraits. This is just a practice...our real portraits are on 18" by 24" paper. I never really thought I was capable of drawing myself...but I went and proved myself wrong!

We are starting our drawings of what will soon become our books...and out of all the fruits I've drawn (or attempted to draw...) this is by far my personal best! Hopefully there's more where this came from!
